MIC use case for OEE improvement

This resulted in a 30% improvement in the OEE of the production plant.

CHALLENGE

This company felt that its equipment was underutilized. It had too much reliance on manual operations and many of its equipment were down longer than expected. It was trying to improve production results by collecting data from the manufacturing process and was using a partially automated system to measure OEE.

Management knew that the data collected was not entirely accurate and production planning was unreliable. For any change or machine downtime, response time was late and reprogramming was slow.

They needed their production system to provide a reliable and real-time OEE, and also to use the data to feed back into the process itself, so that certain changes and decision making could be done autonomously.
