The MIC platform developed by SMARTPM for the intelligent management of manufacturing processes receives an award for Innovation in Advanced and Digital Manufacturing during the celebration of the 31st edition of the BIEMH.
The software solution for industrial automation MIC presented by SMARTPM at the 14th edition of the National Innovation Award in Advanced and Digital Manufacturing organized by AFM Cluster has been awarded the prize for Innovation in integration of 4.0 concepts in advanced manufacturing systems.
The MIC systemsystem, which represents the possibility of making Industry 4.0 a reality, was presented at the Machine Tool Biennial held at the BEC (Bilbao Exhibition Centre), the leading event at national level and the third most important trade fair in Europe in its field.
The award was collected by Jose Castellanos, General Manager of SMARTPM, in a ceremony presided over by Ainara Basurko, Deputy of Economic Promotion of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and with the presence of Galo Gutiérrez, General Director of Industry and SMEs of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.
It is the first time that SMARTPM participates in this Fair and has had its own 70 square meters booth where it has installed part of its Factory Lab, a real test environment to show in-situ the operation of two machining cells managed from MIC.
The SMARTPM solution was also present at other points of the biennial, such as the stands of ONA, MAQcenter and Delfincomponentes. Thanks to the partners and the whole team that came to Barakaldo, visitors were able to see different machining processes where the MIC integrated all its components: machining centers, EDM, CMM, robot and warehouse.
MIC, a platform to facilitate more productive and efficient processes
SMARTPM has developed MIC, the software platform for intelligent automation, based on the knowledge of both the processes and the problems faced by machining shops.
MIC's value proposition is not limited to automating the movement of parts, but integrates everything at the process level.
MIC (Manufacturing Intelligence Core) makes it possible to connect assets and people, manage workflows and, above all, make decisions autonomously in real time based on information from both machining and inspection processes.
The new automation platform is open, flexible and continuously evolving. It also offers the possibility to customize and integrate new functionalities both by the company's operators and by SMARTPM.
Recognition for advanced and digital manufacturing solutions
The Innovation Awards organized by AFM Cluster and BEC since 1992 since 1992 are a recognition to the companies that have stood out the most this year in the contribution of innovation to advanced and digital manufacturing.
The jury visited the SMARTPM stand on the first day of the fair and was able to get to know MIC's value proposition first hand. The delegation was made up of professionals from BEAZ, BIC Gipuzkoa, CDTI, Eide, Ergogroup, Ihobe, Mondragon Unibertsitatea, Osalan, Spri, Tecnun-University of Navarra and University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
When awarding the prizes, the jury took into account the criteria of technology, innovation, design, ergonomics, safety and sustainability. In addition to SMARTPM, in the other categories the following companies were awarded prizes: ZAYER, Nicolás Correa, Navantia and CITD, with a special mention to SORALUCE.
